This atlas instills a pretty good wisdom of anatomy via correlating thin-section mind anatomy with corresponding scientific magnetic resonance photographs in axial, coronal, and sagittal planes. The authors correlate complex neuromelanin imaging, susceptibility-weighted imaging, and diffusion tensor tractography with scientific three and four T MRI.

In order to unravel the unique properties of ROS within biological systems, there are several different types of fluorescent probes that have been developed [5–8]. In this chapter, we simply introduce the different types of fluorescent probes that have been developed for ROS, specifically hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), the hydroxyl radical (HO∙), the superoxide radical (O2·−), and hypochlorous acid (HOCl). Examples of synthetic fluorescent probes for the detection of ROS in both in vivo and in vitro systems are organic fluorophore dyes, encoded fluorescent proteins, nanoparticle-based fluorescent probes, and small molecule probes.

1 Monitoring of Reactive Oxygen Species in Biological Systems The major problem in fully elucidating the roles of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in biological systems is the lack of suitable detection systems, which is challenging due to the presence of various antioxidants within cell systems and the short lifetimes exhibited by ROS species. Among various probes developed for ROS detection, synthetic fluorescent probes have emerged as a powerful tool due to their simple design, high sensitivities, surface modification strategies, and low cost [1–4].
